I'm thinking in sporadic little thoughts today:
- start cleanse tomorrow
- Robin is making me eggplant parmesan tonight (my last meal for awhile, glad it'll be that!)
- I ~have to~ get my taxes done soon, maybe I'll get a break this year - woo!
- I'm so looking forward to taking a holiday
- I was bit by a bird this morning
- new guy at the office entertains me throughout the day...very funny
- it's not very attractive to be cowardly and ignorant...why do some people hide?
- car is full of road salt...must wash car

one i saw the other day called Osama:

Inspired by a true story, it's the first film made in Afghanistan after the fall of the Taliban. After the brutal Taliban regime bans women from working and forbids them to leave their homes without a male escort, a 12-year-old girl and her mother find themselves on the brink of starvation. With nowhere left to turn, the mother disguises her daughter as a boy. Now called "Osama," the young girl embarks on a terrifying and confusing journey, as she tries to keep the Taliban from discovering her true identity.

Remember I told you about my eye? Well, it got worse. I think it's an allergy. This happened to me when I was working in Lesotho too, but then it was a spider bite. The bite/gnaw marks were so big you could see them with the naked eye. Imagine how big the 'pider was?!

So, this is what my eye looks like right now...

...except a bit more swollen and I'm prettier.

hahahahahahahahaa

Maybe this was the African culprit...

How do some people become so blinded and brainwashed they don't even know what they are doing anymore? How can anyone not have the morals the rest of the world has?

No matter who brought you up, no matter what hatred may have been planted in your head...there is still another little seed that knows the difference between right and wrong. If your parents made you hate...you've still seen how people act on TV and movies; you've seen your peers act like human beings. You know how people should be treated. You know what's wrong. You just choose to see certain people as unneccesary, as not having the same human rights as yourself. You can rape, beat, torture and murder your fellow human beings and still hold your head up. At the end of the day you still manage to fall asleep. How do you make peace with yourself?

zencircle Chinese Doctor fixed me again...this time with acupuncture. My knee! It's like 90% better after an hour's work getting poked. That stuff works...I highly recommend it to anyone. He said it's prolly not any sort of pressure or sprain on the knee from runnin, but it's most likely from not opening my hips properly in yoga classes. Ah ha!
I have to practise back and forward bends more (and better!) camel

So, yesterday...
I wanted to get a hold of this guy I know in NYC, but for some reason his contact was missing from MSN, I had no previous emails from him (as my HD was recently wiped out), I couldn't remember the name of his e-business ...
The reason for my sudden need to contact him stems back to an absurd conversation I was having with my friend, Julie at a local lounge that was rather busy that night and therefore, quite noisy. She was telling me about a fella her husband used to work with who does research on big horned sheep, but I kept hearing 'big orange sheet'. (Say it out loud, you'll see how the misinterpretation took place). And she was giving me weird looks cuz I was trying to imagine what sort of research there would be on big orange sheets: how glorious it would be to see these audaciously orange sheets flung out across green hills in the middle of nowhere.... And I was hurling back equally weird looks at her...until one of us broke the confusion ... we coagulated both stories and laughed until we cried. Then when our friends joined us, the story was re-told. Julie's MSN name still reflects that evening's head-shaking misunderstanding.

How does this relate to your friend in New York?
Well, a few nights ago after studying, and unable to sleep, I flicked the TV on hoping it would soothe me to sleep and I wasn't sure if I saw it correctly or not, but I through half-asleep eyes I noticed there were these huge BIG ORANGE SHEETS billowing around these towering structures...I let it slide, but googled it in the morning and sent Julie the site. Weird, hey?!

So, this is why I wanted to find Jon...to see if he'd taken any pictures of The Gates. He's a photographer and in New York. And, no word of a lie, he MSNed me
yesterday at about 930pm...to say hi.
SHUT UP!
I know...

how's she doing, doc?

Aside from the knee I cranked yesterday whilst running...and then putting weight on it at yoga ... everything is A-
okay. I think...yessss...nooooo....yessss....
(great yoga-ing last night. There were only about eight of us...and I met a very nice girl there, Amanda. Jasmine even sang a chant for us.) Yoga on!!

I found my favourite toque that I thought I lost. I actually mourned it's loss. Like, I REALLLLY like this cap...it had been buried in a pile of laundry that I had been putting off (sheets, towels, you know...not stuff you need right away). It's one of my favourite things. I'm happy we found each other. It has stripes.

Happy Totally-Made-Up-Holiday Day!

v3f-770x1158
I think the last time I partook in said festivities was back in grade school when we hand-picked 'just the right' Valentine for every person in our class...and hoped we got one from himmmmm. Well, a'course we did!! Everyone gave everyone else a cut-out, un-perforated little Valentine. But I hated that some people were bullies through-and-through and didn't give the fat kid, the nerdy kind and the smelly kid a card...it was just mean.

I have a free return airline ticket anywhere in North America...where should I go? [think ocean]

I've been calling them "coincidences" for years, but when I shared a few examples of my coincidences with my roommate [a.k.a The Chinese Doctor], it was pointed out that they are actually called "non-causal relationships". Synchronicity.
I seem to be more ~aware~ of these synchronicities lately. What's up with that? Maybe I should just make a tinfoil hat.

The girls all look great in their lululemon yoga outfits and they ~seem~ like they know what they're doing while waiting for the instructor...but damn if you don't find out two asanas into the class...they have no idea what they're doing. Don't get me wrong...I'm all for looking good...but how come it's the women that really don't seem to care what they look like that (but still look good) are the easiest to talk to?

Dammit. I'm an insomniac again.

Synchronicity I (The Police)
With one breath, with one flow
You will know
Synchronicity

A sleep trance, a dream dance,
A shared romance,
Synchronicity

A connecting principle,
Linked to the invisible
Almost imperceptible
Something inexpressible.
Science insusceptible
Logic so inflexible
Causally connectible
Yet nothing is invincible.

If we share this nightmare
Then we can dream
Spiritus mundi.

If you act, as you think,
The missing link,
Synchronicity.

We know you, they know me
Extrasensory
Synchronicity.

A star fall, a phone call,
It joins all,
Synchronicity.

It's so deep, it's so wide
Your inside
Synchronicity.

Effect without a cause
Sub-atomic laws, scientific pause

School Paper

0 comments | Saturday, February 12, 2005

We had to take a business, company, organization, etc., outline its function, identify strengths/weakness/successes and other schooly bits and determine any learning needs the employees/members may require. I didn't have one in mind, but knew what I'd like to base it on: Afghanistan women - their plight, their fight, their rights. What-ev-ah
storyA_main
We were told we could make up an organization and go from there. I've volunteered at various NGOs and non-profit organizations for over a decade, worked overseas in third world countries, worked with women and so on and so on...So I figured I could 'invent' and properly define such a fellowship.
In writing my project I thought I'd get some background info from any sort of group ~out there~ with hopefully similar objectives that I could mimic some of their goals and strategies. And what do I find? An organization
that is committed to raising awareness in Canada to the plight of Afghan women and their families. I was exhilarated...this was EXACTLY what I had in mind. I read more and see that the national office is in Calgary! Even better. So, I based everything on this organization. I left a message at the agency, but never heard back from anyone.
Allow me to be a tad discursive now: as extra work, I also do house and pet sitting. This job is not only feeding the snake, frogs, geckos and ferrets, but also performing security checks - basically, checking rooms, doors, pipes aren't frozen..., which brought me into an office. I checked the outside door and turned to leave...on the corner of the desk I notice brochures. They were brochures for the exact same organization I am now basing my project on! I look up on the wall, and there is the lady of the house in pictures with Afghanistani women, there were kudos for her work, more literature on the organization scattered about the office... I hadn't heard back from anyone yet, because they're still on holiday!
True story.
I'm very much looking forward to speaking with her.

here's my one...

And yet another friend has done something spectacular; he has reached the conclusion of a great adventure of creativity, time constraints, financial matters, famous people, traveling and stuff I know I'm missing out here...he has completed the making-of the documentary of The Libertine - starring Johnny Depp, John Malkovich and Samantha Morton.

One of the doggie's that I pet sit had to be put down. He had a great life: overcame cancer twice, was blind and hard of hearing...he held on for a long time. Poor Strider Dog. I hope Brigette is not too sad.

Know what's funny?
When your date is expelling a story with much gesticulation and laughing and talking and one of his gestures is the 'come here' gesture - with upturned hand and index finger making the wormy movement of 'come here' (as part of story) ... then the waitress arrives with the bill out of no where (no previous indication we were done ordering..??) ... then date realizes she must have thought the 'come here' was for her...hahahahahahaha....he was embarassed, I think...but we laffed lots. I asked him if he treated all service staff that way.

Then there was a funny bit about a donkey and a date and not completely reading something through and I laughed SO hard...but that story won't translate so well here.
