EARTHLINGS is a feature length documentary about humanity's absolute dependence on animals (for pets, food, clothing, entertainment, and scientific research) but also illustrates our complete disrespect for these so-called "non-human providers." The film is narrated by Academy Award nominee Joaquin Phoenix (GLADIATOR) and features music by the critically acclaimed platinum artist Moby.

i had to shield the screen a few times (honestly, i couldn't watch most of it) ...the suffering inflicted upon the vulnerable is oft-times just too unbearable to imagine, let alone view. we do it to each other and we become speciesists and think brawn and power is right over the weak and defenceless.

it is sorrowful...i don't know why i do this to myself...perhaps to strengthen my resolve and enforce my beliefs, through all the tears nonetheless.
i am continually baffled by humanity's cruelty - i'm missing something, i don't get it...

if we had to kill our own food...we'd all be vegetarians. where does YOUR food come from?

"As often as Herman had witnessed the slaughter of animals and fish, he always had the same thought: in their behavior towards creatures, all men are Nazis."
-Isaac Bashevis Singer-
